Open Source Program Office (OSPO)
The SSC serves as UCSF's Open Source Program Office (OSPO).
An OSPO is an institution's home for open-source strategy, training, support, and community.
Open software is a natural fit for scientific software: It can be readily shared, reviewed, and enhanced.
As UCSF's OSPO, the SSC can help you:
- Understand the benefits and importance of open source software for science
- Prepare a codebase for public release
- Choose and apply an appropriate open-source license
- Engage with open-source communities
- Meet funder requirements for open, reproducible software
